Rampant Hatred

So my wife and I are starting off our day by heading to our local Walmart. I pull into the parking lot, find a spot to park our car, and we’re off to pick out some assorted groceries and personal hygiene stuff. My wife and I are walking towards the entrance of the store when a man stops me and says “that sign is so offensive ” . Not knowing what sign he’s talking about, and really not caring or paying that much attention, I replied back ” yeah I can see where some people might find it offensive “. He then looks at me wide eyed and with a mildly disgusted look and says ” so why did you put it there then”? At this point I’m very confused and somewhat agitated, seeing as how I just want to go inside and get my groceries, and I ask the gentleman ” what sign are you talking about? I have no sign!” He replies ” the sign above your license plates!” Now at this point I should let everyone know that I have a 1st Cavalry license plate on the front of my car, on the back I have a combat veteran license plate frame. The man then turns to point at my car and tells me “that right there is hate speech and racism! You need to take it down before someone else does.” Now I am upset, as I tell the man ” I’m proud of who I am and what I represent and it will be a cold day in hell before anyone touches my property. Have a nice day!” As I proceed to walk the guy grabs my arm and I am fighting every cell in my body not to slam this mans head into the pavement. My wife sees how upset I am getting and grabs me by the hand telling me “honey, we need to finish shopping ” so I ignore the man and keep walking. He runs up in front of me again and tells me “you know I lost a lot of family over there and you are promoting the killing over there with that crap!” Here’s where I start to look like the bad guy. ” I’ve lost a lot of brothers and sisters over there too ” I say to him. “This is my way of honoring them. ” “you’re in my country now, if it was so great over there you would have stayed!” I told him that if he grabbed me or got in my way again I’d punch him in the throat. What I can’t understand for the life of me, is how you could be so extreme as to feel that a combat veteran license plate is hate speech. That takes a really warped mind! I don’t understand how this country has become so intolerant of everything, while they taught how diverse and rich they are making our culture. If you ask me, no one who comes to this country anymore is trying to assimilate into our country. The divide is growing bigger and bigger. I don’t know how much longer our country will hold together with so many people tearing at its seems!
